San Agustin, Huila is one our favorite regions in Colombia. Coffees of the regions are characteristically, nearly pulp-squeezed of bright fruit notes. Producer Miguel has outdone himself with the Pink Bourbon variety: the lot shines with notes of raw sugarcane, kiwi, and grapefruit tonic.

About Miguel Ordoñez

Miguel Angel Ordoñez owns the Finca La Belleza farm, where he grows coffees of the Caturra and Pink Bourbon varieties. Miguel is an active member of Asociación Los Naranjos: a collective founded by a tight-knit group of farmers in the surrounding area of San Agustín, Huila. Despite the farms of those involved being relatively small (2.5 hectares or less, on average), and that most producers grow fewer than 12,000 trees, the coffees emerging from Los Naranjos have consistently been some of the best and brightest at our cupping tables, year after year. The farmers have a very close kinship with one another, sharing information easily amidst their fellow growers, and a general philosophy is held by the association, wherein anything that might improve a lot’s harvest for one producer might do the same for the lots of others. In this way, the individual discipline and attention to detail of each participating farmer can have a profound impact on the group, and the results of such cooperation are clear, down to the final drop of every cup
