The vast array of coffees that come from Huila is astonishing, and this one is an exception among exceptions: a firm reminder of why we love what we do. It is an honor to be working with this Gesha lot from young producer Rafael Ramírez. In the cup is a classic representation of the Gesha varietydelicate lilac aromas, wildflower honey and notes of sweet tea.

About Rafael Ramírez

Rafael Ramírez, from Pitalito, was born on January 16th, 1999. Like so many other producers, Rafael has been around coffee his entire life. With help from his mother, he was able to purchase his own six hectare farm. The land had been previously used to grow coffee, making it a perfect launching place to continue cultivating different varieties, including the renowned Gesha. Rafael is excited to compete in local quality events and the Cup of Excellence, and his youthful eagerness shines through to the end of each sip. We are thrilled to recognize Rafael as a stand-out producer with the highest goals of providing a quality product to roasters like ourselves.

About Gesha

There is significant confusion about Gesha varieties, largely due to the name Gesha being used to denote multiple genetically distinct plant types—many of which share similar geographic origins in Ethiopia. Recent genetic diversity analyses conducted by World Coffee Research confirm that the Panamanian Geisha descendent from T2722 is distinct and uniform. It is associated with extremely high cup quality when the plants are properly managed at high altitude, and is renowned for its delicate floral, jasmine, and peach-like aromas.
